Suncoast Triathlon
The final showdown of the season for Smith Sports Team was the Suncoast Triathlon. This year's race saw a few changes from previous years. The biggest challenge came in the "second" swim through the lagoon on the way to transition. This created a new and interesting element to one of the most popular triathlons at Fort DeSoto. Audrey, Ali and Mike were ready to take on the 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike and 5k run. Audrey was facing off against her time from last year's event and she came out victorious beating her previous time! This was Mike's first triathlon and even though he only had a few opportunities to train on the bike before the event, he still had a great showing, finishing the race. Ali was excited to compete in the Suncoast Tri as it had been a few years since she last participated at Fort DeSoto. She had a strong race, finishing 2nd in her age group and 3rd female overall. Congrats Smith Sports Team!
